5 Wayfinding Tips For Spas This Holiday Season

Is your spa ready for the Holidays?

Spa holiday shoppers

Is your spa ready for guests seeking respite from Holiday shopping and stress? Here are five (5) wayfinding tips you can do to assure smooth transitions as guests begin their spa experience with you.

5. Highlight Holiday Fare

Many spas show extra care and attention to guests during the Holidays. Providing special Holiday tastes and drinks are examples. This is a great time to showcase unique flavors that complement a signature service or Holiday promotion. Uniquely-blended hot tea is a welcome treat to guests when they arrive and take refuge from the cold. You don’t want them to miss these treats so be sure to highlight Holiday fare by providing clear signage. Make guests aware that drinks and tastes are complimentary, if you’re not providing butler service. Clearly label tastes and drinks and draw attention to any ingredients that tie into a service or promotion.

4. Be prepared For Inclement Weather

Tis the season for snow, cold and rain. Consider having a small collection of umbrellas to provide guests in the event of weather changes that may occur while guests are visiting the spa. A personal escort to their vehicle might also be considered. Pay attention to the paths guests take when they arrive at your door. Are walkways unobstructed? Clear of snow and ice?

3. Provide Clear and Safe Paths

You don’t want to stop at the door when considering the paths guests take. Make sure to pay attention to the paths guests with disabilities or senior guests take when navigating your business. Is there ample room to navigate for seniors with walkers or for wheelchairs? What about when they arrive in treatment rooms? Obstacles and blunders in the paths when guests transition from one phase of their experience to another disrupts the flow and can negatively influence the memory these special guests have of their experience.

2. Available Directions To Your Business

This is a perfect time to make sure all navigation apps such as Google and Yelp are up to date with your business information and services. Make sure your brand, address, services and other information are consistent across platforms. Check maps and directions to assure they are correct. Consider adding a landmark marker to maps to make it easier for guests to find you when they’re driving. If your business is in a more urban area, consider signage at the nearest bus or train stop to your location.

1. Retail Imprinting

Boost your Holiday retail sales by showcasing products along the paths guests take throughout the experience. Retail imprinting is the practice of introducing retail products to guests at various stops, or moments, in the experience, such as at check in, in the locker room, in treatment rooms, relaxation areas, and again at check out or in the retail area. Retail imprinting uses the memory recall cycle by continually influencing the guest’s memory of the products they see during the stops they make during their experience. Memories are further influenced when reinforced by therapist recommendations during and after treatment. The relaxation area is a prime stop for retail imprinting as this is when guests are most open and immersed in their surroundings. Retail imprinting can significantly influence the client’s purchase decision in a positive way.
